Having developed his deep expertise as an intellectual property practitioner at a global top 15 law firm, Michael counsels and advocates for his clients on all aspects of their intellectual property needs, both domestically and internationally.  He is a fierce protector of his clients’ trademarks, copyrights, patents and trade secrets. Michael has significant experience managing domestic and international trademark portfolios, performing clearance work, preparing trademark applications, responding to office actions, and performing all other facets of trademark prosecution. A member of the Patent Bar, Michael has also successfully prosecuted patents across a wide range of industries and technologies. Prior to becoming an attorney, Michael worked as an engineer for a nuclear power plant. 

With a diverse background as an attorney and engineer, Michael provides thoughtful counseling and insightful strategies for his clients’ IP portfolio development and protection, as well as pursuit of infringers. In addition, Michael develops claims analysis for litigation support in infringement matters in district court and cancellation and opposition proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.  On the transactional side,  Michael regularly drafts commercial transaction documents within M&A matters, including various intellectual property licenses, professional services agreements, software license agreements, assignments, term sheets, and non-disclosure agreements, and executes IP due diligence for corporate transactions.  Through his wide array of experience, Michael assists clients in various industries with diverse intellectual property needs.

Michael is a member of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia and The Hon. Charles Pannell, Jr. IP Inn of Court, and actively participates with the International Trademark Association.  Prior to entering private practice, Michael interned with the United States Attorney's Office - Middle District of Alabama, and with the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. His litigation experience, coupled with his technical knowledge and practice, allows him to effectively advance and protect his clients' intellectual property rights.
